These grease-related problems result in considerable expense on emergency maintenance on pumps. Traditional methods for dealing with the problems include the use of specialist contractors with suction equipment or hazardous chemicals to dissolve the grease and move it further down the sewer.

BFL 4700PS harnesses the power of environmental biotechnology to solve the problems caused by grease in sewage systems in a completely safe and natural way. BFL 4700PS contains a blend of harmless, natural micro-organisms that have the ability to degrade grease. This degradation process ensures that grease is destroyed and can't reform further down the sewer.

BFL 4700PS is a powder product that contains a wide range of micro-organisms that have been specially selected for their ability to efficiently degrade grease. They also are efficient in degrading other organic waste materials in domestic sewage. These bacteria produce a range of enzymes that degrade grease, starch, protein and paper (cellulose). The key to the degradation of grease and other compounds that are not water-soluble is the production of biosurfactants. This helps to emulsify the grease so that it can be degraded more efficiently. The bacteria in BFL 4700PS have been selected for their ability to produce biosurfactants. A small quantity of biodegradable surfactant is included to start the process until the bacteria produce their own biosurfactants to continue the degradation process.

BFL 4700PS is a powder product on a cereal base that is provided in the form of 250g sachets for ease of dosing. Empty the contents of the sachet into a bucket (10 litre) of lukewarm water (~30oC), stir well and allow to stand for at least 30 minutes before dosing. BFL 4700PS should be dosed directly to the pump sump.

BFL 4700PS is typically used for the treatment of pump sumps and lift stations. When used in pump sumps on a regular basis it has a beneficial effect downstream at the inlet works where it significantly reduces grease accumulation on surfaces. BFL 4700PS is totally compatible with domestic sewage treatment plants and, in fact, works to help the performance of biological treatment by starting the degradation of organic materials such as fats and grease.

The micro-organisms in BFL 4700PS have all been isolated from natural environments. They have not been genetically modified in any way. These microbial strains have been classified as being harmless to humans, animals and plants. The product is subjected to independent testing to ensure that it is free of Salmonella and other contaminants.
